About me

My name is Jeffrey Bostoen. I’ve always been an IT enthusiast, eager to learn new technologies.

I like simple solutions and and clear communication with my customers.

My best qualities are patience, common sense and being an autodidact (self learner).

Experience

I have been a system administrator (2010-2021) with a variety of duties for over 10 years for a municipality. In this job I was mostly a generalist. I got very familiar with Office 365 – including PowerApps and PowerAutomate, Linux and Windows Servers, HP Switches, Veeam, VMWare, iTop (ITSM/CMDB), GIS technologies, PowerShell automation, Content Management Systems such as Drupal, Joomla and WordPress, …

I’m also skilled at training users and managing a variety of projects. When I have repetitive tasks, I start looking to automate them.

During this time, I got very familiar with iTop; which is an amazing open source inventory system and service desk platform. I’m a proud translator, bug hunter and contributor. The pinnacle so far has been speaking at the very first international iTop convention.

In 2021, I joined Awingu (since June 2022 acquired by Parallels) as senior support engineer. Aside from supporting the product, I also went in-depth on cases or possible product enhancements and wrote extensive workflows, knowledge base articles, and various documentation. I was later promoted to subject matter engineer and nowadays I’m a senior customer engineer, acting as a bridge between customers, support and the R&D team.

During this period, I’ve done some extensive research on various topics such as Azure Files integration, Kerberos, Microsoft ADFS, NTP, Remote Desktop Services, Windows Hello, Kerberos, remote browsing, Identity Provider integrations, … .
