First iTop installation

Installed iTop for the very first time!

Customization

Added and customized the datamodel for the first time (basic monitor class).

The very first of many datamodel changes; of which a lot were published on GitHub.

Contributions

Sent first bug reports to Combodo (iTop’s vendor) and offered updated Dutch translations.

Mail to Ticket customization

Started working on the first “feature” extension for iTop: a custom version of Mail to Ticket with additional features and bug fixes.

Geometry / Maps

For the very first public portal, a new feature was needed: the possibility to display objects on a map.

This also lead to the very first cost-savings (decrease of commercial licenses of another product)!

Report Generator

For various custom iTop classes, custom (printable) reports were needed. It allows to print maps, QR-codes, custom documents, … all based on iTop data.

Public portals (front ends) – powered by iTop API

Custom front ends, for example for citizens to report issues with public infrastructure (without needing to sign in); or one to showcase projects in the cities.

Ticket Merge

So many users create multiple requests for the same issue. This extension allows agents to merge all this info into a single ticket.

Due to my work, I was invited as a guest speaker for the very first inernational iTop meeting in Cologne.

Specific integrations

Created some specific integrations to display data in iTop which is read from the databases of external applications (decisions, invoices, …).

2020 – COVID

COVID – Appointments module

During COVID, the task was to as quickly as possible introduce an appointments module. Completely independent from any sort of service desk. This was realized within 2 days!

Suggested Articles (FAQs)

Made it possible to auto-suggest FAQs to users in the user portal based on minimal input (only the ticket’s title has to be entered already) and optimized the workflow for agents as well.

Auto Assigner

The Auto Assigner was developed cases where values can be set automatically based on certain conditions. Mostly, it has to do with availability (workload, holidays, …) and suitability (skills, languages, experience, …).

Allow users to comment and vote on iTop objects published in the portal (e.g. feature requests, FAQs, …).

Syslog Action

A simple action that enables sending data from iTop directly to a Syslog server.

Signature Field

A first version of the Signature Field extension is available. It transforms the image field into a signature pad; so customers can sign (draw) for example work orders.

A custom approval base; adding some extra options to decide if there are enough votes (or rejections).
